Horns and beeps, and the ringing bells
The world makes a rhythm that never ends
Full of sound, it’s a shining and screeching
And being out of sight, is the biggest lunacy
So we’re whirling and crying under greedy eyes
As the swirling day melts into the night

Constantly moving, without intent
It’s a restless feeling, that’s never content
The sun sets, hidden, in the hazy sea
The endless waves refuse to speak

It’s not the sounds outside that worry me
but a silence within that’s never free

A constant rush and a gasp for breath,
If we were quiet, our voices could be heard
Afraid of stopping yet afraid to move
Afraid of running out of things to do
The silence is deafening as it screams
It makes me face the shadow that’s hiding the dream

My mind’s a nervous swirl from the things unsaid
With a sigh and a sway, I’m ready to fade
I push away the monsters with a rising dread
But the answer’s not in life, nor in the land of the dead
